What neckline is right?

Monday, March 19th, 2012
We know that it can sometimes be overwhelming to be in the store – so many colors, so many fits and so many styles you love. But what really works for you? Something we see being over looked a lot though are necklines. They are quite literally the icing on the cake and can take you from cute to jaw-dropping in just a matter of shape. When choosing a neckline, keep your bust, face and general body shape in mind.
Bust size:

A smaller bust plays well with high cut necks

A bigger bust will benefit from lower cuts (key word: modestly low cuts)

Face shape:

You oval faced Roadtrippers are lucky gals because you’ll do well dabbling in any neckline.

A rounded boat or crew neck flatter a longer face and wide faces will find solace in deeper crews and v-necks.

Wider faces will find solace in deeper crews and v-necks.

Body Shape:

Finally, pear shapes benefit from a horizontal boat neck while curvier shapes can look to a vertical neck to streamline their body.

Whether crew, v or boat all necklines have the right magic formula to work just right for you. A la Bob Barker, come down and take a few guesses! Your prize if the neckline is right? Lookin’ fabulous!

Stop Hurting Your Jeans

Wednesday, March 14th, 2012

Show your jeans that your love is true by taking good care of them and avoiding the following common pitfalls.

Don’t wash them! It might seem counter-intuitive but an unwashed jean is a happy jean. The washing machine is your jeans biggest fear – it’ll cause them to lose their shape, fade and wear out faster. If you don’t believe us, ask CNN! In a scientific experiment fit for any denim lover, they showed that jeans unwashed for 15 months had comparable cleanliness than those unwashed just 13 days. Avoiding the wash will result in better fitting jeans with a longer life span and don’t worry - no one will ever know.

Not washing them frequently is the idea here – not washing them ever is not entirely recommended. When the time comes keep water cold. Warm water makes the wash cycle that much more traumatizing for a good pair of denim, damaging the fibers that have done nothing but love you. For minimal color loss, turn your jeans inside out before tossing them in. Hang to dry (DO NOT EVER subject your jeans to the dryer!!!!!).

Depending on your denim, you might want to consider dry cleaning your jeans.  Much milder than a conventional washing machine, it will keep color and fit most in tact. We know it’s expensive but if you just scored a pair of Fidelitys or if you’re planning on wearing your denim till death do you part this is an option we would definitely recommend a strong consideration for dry cleaning.

Love is compromise and an equal balance of giving and receiving. Your jeans have done nothing but give give give and all they want is a little TLC in return.

Take care Roadtrippers and tell your jeans we say “you’re welcome!”
