Just in time for all you festival attendees: Erika (our resident music festival genius) has come up with the most awesome tips and tricks not only for fashion at festivals, but advice on how to make the most of your time! We’re loving all these useful tips, and can’t wait to put them to use at Osheaga! We especially like tip #11: “Have a blast!” Our thoughts exactly!
1. Dress comfortably
Nothing is more aggravating than standing for 6+ hours in an uncomfortable outfit or shoes. You don’t have to sacrifice fashion for comfort, so try to blend the two together. You’ll thank us later.
2. Accessorize intelligently
Festivals are all about fashion, so why not get the most out of your accessories? Use a backpack for maximum space and comfort, a great pair of sunglasses to keep your eyes safe, and try wearing booties or Hunters for a comfy, yet stylish set of footwear.
3. Stay hydrated and well-nourished
Drink lots and lots of water. We can’t stress the importance of this. Staying properly hydrated and eating throughout the say is the best way to make the most of your festival time. Even if you have to slip in a beer here and there
4. Cash money!
Even though most festivals accept debit/credit or at least have ATMs, you can never go wrong with cash, and it’s always good to keep some extra cash on you for back-up/emergency purposes.
5. Plan ahead
Make a schedule with your friends about which shows you want to see. It will keep you organized and you’ll be able to prioritize eating times, bathroom breaks, etc.
6. Wear Sunscreen
We love the sun! It is the big ball of bright beautiful energy that allows life on planet earth to exist. You know what is not so cool about the sun? It’s trying to give you cancer (sorry to bum you out). Lather up and protect yourself so you can soak up the sun safely. Don’t be a tough guy gents: men are almost twice as likely to get melanoma because of their too-cool-for-suncreen mentality.
7. Check out the random shows
Some of your favourite memories might be made while watching a band you’ve never heard of. Sure, they might be terrible, but they might be amazing, and if not, you’ll have a fun story to laugh about with your friends later!
8. Charge your phone before you go
How we survived before cell phones, we’ll never know! Make sure to charge your cell before you leave for the day/night, and think about splurging on one of those chargeable cell phone cases (www.mophie.com). You never know when you’ll need your cell (or its camera!)
9. Stay rested
Get some sleep in between festival days/nights. Your body will thank you!
10. Be safe
OK, back to elementary school: use the buddy system. Let your friends know where you are, and make sure you know where you’re going is safe. It sounds cliché, but it’s important and it works!
11. Have a blast!
We think this is probably the most important rule! Have tons of fun, take tons of pictures, and make tons of memories! That’s what summer festivals are really about, right?!
